Extreme-risk area of water resources for effective, sustainable alternatives to the medium and long-term treatment (WATERISK)

Objectives:  The project aims to build a water management decision support system (software and data system development, communication interface DSS) and related professional advisory activities to increase the competitiveness of the economic foundation of the Hungarian Lowland and water management to reduce risks. The targeted market for the product of the tender is the economic participants of the area and the state, local government sector.

The principal of tasks: 
(1) Definition and analysis of the scenarios for the water resources of the Tisza valley concerning the next 20 years
(2) Evaluation of the socio-economic, environmental and ecological effects on different water resource scenarios
(3) The availability of water resources, quantitative analysis of the risks of extremism and quality. 
(4) Long-term, continuous development of scenario-innovation process. 

Methodology: 
(1) Synthesizing analysis of the existing databases, software concerning the project
(2) Elaborating a methodology for software product development than production system design and its algorithmic exposition, writing 
(3) Database harmonization and database building on the basis of software requirements

Results: 
(1) Water Resources Management Decision Support System (software) reproduction 
(2) Establishing consulting services
(3) Data supply towards market and government actors 

Economic, social outcomes, effects: 
(1) Water Resources Decision Support System (software) development of the Tisza catchment area, and transfer to relevant government, local government official concerned. We put emphasis on participatory development during the project, therefore the software is being developed with the needs of the local stakeholders.
(2) The complete decision support software establishes long-term advisory services in the region, which can lead to effective and sustainable use of both the domestic and international resources on regional levels.
(3) The sale of WATERISK system can provide the decision-preparation, evaluation of alternatives, cost-effective solution for operators in the region (public authorities, municipalities, investors, etc.).. 
(4) The risk assessment software system to the insurance concern, a more thorough investigation be carried out, which can promote community development venture in the region, thus relieved of the tasks associated with the central budget for this huge annual expenditure requirement.
